Guest Speaker: Mahboobeh Amy Davar

Mahboobeh (Amy) Davar was born in Kerman and raised in Tehran, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Tehran. From an early age, she has been deeply passionate about art and architecture—expressed through watercolor painting and fashion design. At the age of 20, without any formal architectural training, she designed her first residential floor plan. The plan was later used by an architectural firm to construct a single-family home, leading to an immediate job offer.

After immigrating to the United States in the early 1980s, she earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree in Interior Architecture from Montgomery College.

Earlier in her career, she was selected to participate as a television personality during the grand opening of Iran’s first National Television in the Pahlavi era. She also designed and produced an innovative household product in Iran, reflecting her lifelong commitment to creativity, design, and practical innovation.

She is the inventor of the “Earthquake Shock Resistance System” (US20060026910A1) — a patent made freely available to the public and researchers to advance innovation in earthquake-resilient construction.
